Filthy discarded masks attest to learned victimhood, ignorance, and superstition. Like all litter, this reflects abdication of agency and abandonment of care for the world.
Thousands of masks litter the streets, sidewalks, and landscapes of Berkeley, CA and other communities where masking was mandated and is still encouraged, and where many people have permanently adopted the mask as a symbol of virtuous victimhood.
